Hi!
I'm Jackson Bush and I'm a Communications & Media Student (Digital Media Concentration) at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio! I have goals to become a professional sportscaster and volleyball coach. I just finished my 3rd year playing collegiate volleyball and I've been playing since 7th grade.
My Story
Since I was a kid, sports and movies have had the most impact on my growth. Any chance my family and I got, we're watching Marvel, Star Wars, DC, NFL, MLB, you name it--we watched it. I consumed media like it was a favorite food. Growing up, I never thought I'd want to be a filmmaker or sportscaster, but here we are. I thought I wanted to be a mechanical engineer for a giant company or programmer through computer science, but those aspirations didn't last long.
It wasn't really until I began studying Film & Video Production at Cornerstone University in Michigan that I got my niche for cameras and media. During these two years, I developed a creative vision that I never knew I had. I was making short films, doing graphic design, on-set lighting, audio production, and more. I was having a ton of fun thinking that all of this was school. My favorite project was when I made a short documentary film about my volleyball captain, Max, and I centered it around how great of a person he was (you can watch it here). Unfortunately, Cornerstone decided to shut down the program, so instead of staying and settling for a degree I didn't want, I took my talent elsewhere.
In August of 2024, I started my fall semester at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and I haven't left. Since the day I stepped on campus, I was involved with sports broadcasting, graphic design, and gameday/event operations. I fell in love with something I didn't even know I liked. I ended up working for Ohio State University's football stadium as a security guard for a few months, and I saw all the FOX Sports cameramen at the games, and I was in awe. I can't wait to get my professional career started--but first, let's graduate.
